Ad Astra prides itself for its role in developing a 'green' rocket technology and hopes its VASIMR technology may be used to help humans to responsibly explore other worlds. The helicon plasma source used by the VASIMR engine has been explored as a means of processing and destroying hazardous and biological waste but has yet to be implemented on a large scale.  

Ad Astra Servicios Energeticos y Ambientales (AASEA) is a Costa Rican subsidiary of AARC, which is committed to the development of a “turn-key” solution for distributed renewable energy systems relevant to many niche applications worldwide. AASEA is currently working on a wind and solar powered hydrogen cycle, which includes production, storage and use of this type of energy.
